Emerging issues and challenges
EEPLIANT4 Work Package 11: Emerging issues and challenges
Scope
Support the market surveillance inspectors with the increasing challenges they encounter in verifying compliance of regulated products. Challenges range from very simple ones, like obtaining a random specimen for verification testing purposes, to challenges with very large products where traditional laboratory test methods, cannot be applied, market fluctuations, or challenges deriving from the evolution of the ecodesign requirements about resource efficiency, circularity, etc, or the lack of actual market non-compliance rates that are fundamental for designing national strategies and plans and for planning future EU-promoted joint market surveillance actions.
Objectives
- Investigate emerging issues linked to new risks, new standards or product legislation, new products or technologies detected on the market that hinder effective and enforceable market surveillance.
- Specify how such challenges can be tackled with a purpose to be able to conduct a market surveillance inspection.
- Answer the need for reliable information about the actual noncompliance rates of the regulated product categories in order to optimise the planning of national and coordinated EU market surveillance actions on ecodesign and energy labelling.
Participants
9 Market Surveillance Authorities (MSAs) and 1 other governemental organisation are part of this Work Package. They are from 9 Countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, The Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden.
