EEPLIANT2 Second Newsletter
Under the coordination of PROSAFE, national Market Surveillance Authorities work together under the EEPLIANT2 project to ensure that non-compliant products are identified and withdrawn from the EU market. Testing and document inspections targeting three product sectors (household and professional refrigerating appliances, and network standby) is already being performed in order to achieve the expected impacts, particularly to increase the compliance rates with the respective energy efficiency requirements.
The project team has therefore started to tender laboratories, select products for check testing and full scale testing, reviewed technical documentation and also to monitor the proped display of energy labels in online sales. The authorities and laboratories also work together to detect "circumvention", e.g. an odd behaviour of products under tests and check-testing, in order to monitor possible existence of “cheat-ware” controls or other means to achieve non-representative results. The general goal of the project is to increase the adoption of best practice amongst Market Surveillance Authorities and deliver higher level of surveillance activities and compliance of products on the market.
